Restlessness
You feel like you need to move, change, or do SOMETHING, but you can't figure out what. Restlessness is that itchy, unsettled energy that won't let you sit still or be content. It's your body and mind telling you that something needs to shift — you're just not sure what yet.
What does restlessness feel like in your body?
- •Inability to sit still — pacing, fidgeting, bouncing
- •Feeling like your skin is crawling
- •Picking up and putting down activities without finishing
- •A buzzy, unsatisfied energy humming through you
Common triggers
- •Feeling stuck in a routine that no longer fits
- •Having energy with no clear outlet
- •Waiting for something and feeling impatient
- •A vague sense that you should be doing 'more' with your life
Journaling prompts for when you feel restlessness
- What is this restlessness trying to tell you needs to change?
- Are you restless because you need more stimulation, or because you're avoiding something?
- What would 'settling' look like right now, and does that idea scare you?
Healthy ways to cope with restlessness
1. Channel the energy into physical movement — a walk, dance, workout, anything
2. Try something brand new to see if novelty is what you're craving
3. Sit with the restlessness for 10 minutes without reacting; sometimes the message becomes clearer in stillness
