31 Morning Journal Prompts
Free, no sign-up. Pick one, set a 5-minute timer, and write.
Morning journal prompts help you choose the tone of your day before your inbox chooses it for you. A few minutes of writing over coffee can turn a reactive morning into an intentional one.
How to use these prompts
- •Write before you check your phone. Even five minutes of screen-free thinking changes how the day starts.
- •Pick one prompt from the intention section and one from any other section.
- •Keep your journal next to the coffee maker or kettle so the cue is impossible to miss.

Tips that make it stick
- •Keep morning entries short. Three honest lines beat a page you resent writing.
- •Name how you actually feel, even if it is groggy, tense, or flat. Starting with the truth makes the rest of your intention more realistic.
- •Pair morning prompts with a few evening prompts to close the loop on the intentions you set.
- •If you are not a morning person, journal later. The best time is the one you will stick to.
